About the book

A mask in a gallery draws the narrator into the unfinished work of the painter Eliot and the memory of Mia, a sister whose absence has never settled into the past. Around them moves a woman who seems unchanged by the years and by the stories attached to her.

Paintings recur. Rituals are repeated with small differences. An incomplete canvas begins to feel less like an object than an opening through which time has folded.

Kairos is a haunting novel about art, grief, recurrence, and the dangerous human wish to recognise the right moment before it closes.
